I have replaced this site with a new one http://www.positivelyequine.co.uk

My equine experience is extensive and spans 42 years, I have BHS stages 1 and 2, and have been a horse owner for over 24years.

1. BSc (Hons) degree from the Open University during which I studied animal physiology as well as various natural and biological sciences.

 2. Studied natural horsemanship very briefly before deciding that there were many facets I didn’t wish to use and that were not always in the best interest of the horse.

3. Helped my daughter start horses - one New Forest who went to a Pony Club home, one a cob we still own, one a sensitive Arab X Warmblood who was rescued as a foal.

4. Have restarted 2 horses over the past 5 years, Benny and Mojo. As a trustee of an Equine Assisted Learning charity I am the horses advocate, so keep an eye on the horses emotional state.

5. Passed the Natural Animal Centre Stage 1 in Equine Behaviour in 2017

My philosophy is to suggest science based behaviour modification programmes for your horse. I will use positive reinforcement and classical conditioning techniques to write behaviour modification programs. I will work with you the owner/handler/rider to address any management issues that may impact on the horses behaviour.

I work on the LIMA principles of Least Intrusive and Minimally Aversive - https://iaabc.org/about/LIMA

Currently I am not consulting but will add more blog posts soon. Contact me for more information.
Case Studies

Indi

Indi came to my daughter as a very frightened 6 month old foal. Separated from his mother too early and left with a headcollar on that was too small.

He was so afraid of humans it took a lot of patience to gain his trust.

He is now a confident 4 year old just beginning his ground training.

Benny

Benny was given to me by a friend of a friend, he was extremely friendly.
He had been trained using natural horsemanship but had learned to escape from pressure. This type of one time learnng is difficult to extinquish and this is what set me off on my equine behavioural studies.

Benny loved target training and is now living in Devon with one of my daughters.

Mojo

Mojo came into my life after his owner had a nasty accident through no fault of Mojo. He spooked as she was mounting and the owner lost all confidence in him.

He is extremely sensitive and I have spent the last year and a half desenstising to touch and helping him remain calm around people.

He now comes voluntarily to the mounting block and allows me to get on.

Smoke

Smoke was bought by my daughter as an unhandled 18 month old colt. He was initially trained by a natural horsemasnhip trainer. He was skinny and scared when we got him home.

Over the years he has blossomed into a lovely horse. He can still be a bit spooky in new situations and he hates pigs after being chased by one - we are using desensitising and counter conditioning.
